Couple welcomes their 6th son after a brief court proceeding

A Harlingen couple, who has already adopted five kids, welcomed their sixth son after a court proceeding at a county court in Texas, a report from the Record Star stated.

Diane Nichols and Gilbert Rivera adopted 17-year-old Henry Trevor Rivera three days before his 18th birthday. Before living with a relative, Henry was previously under the couple’s respite care at 16-years-old. Before turning 18, Henry was adopted by the couple after seeing him on an adoption website.

According to the couple, the entire court process only took approximately 30 minutes to finish. The proceeding was heard by the Judge Brent Chesney of Nueces County Court at Law 5 on Thursday, December 12.

According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, 6,500 kids in Texas are currently up for adoption.
